prec{ish} spring

Well, 'tis the last day of January, and thank goodness. The closer we get to spring, the better. I am looking quite forward to it, and not just because of its much warmer and happier weather patterns. In April, one of my bestest friends gets married, one of my other bestest friends comes back from her internship (to hopefully live in Salt Lake!), and I get to move home which means I get to spend more time with my family--including this guy:
This is my little chihuahua/rat terrier, named Toby. Also affectionately known as Tobias, Toblerone and Tobi-won Kenobi. His favorite past times include playing fetch and sleeping. And those are two past times I can keep up with. So yes, spring is looking mighty fine right about now. So I hope Punxsutawney Phil wishes us a speedy recovery from the winter blues!

ch-ch-ch-change{ish}

Earlier this week I said to myself, Self, it is high time for a change. A big change. A "ready or not, here I come!" kind of change. And since moving to London (or somewhere almost as cool), buying a whole new wardrobe or changing my major (again), were all out of the question, cutting my hair seemed the most natural of choices. So.

This is how I looked prior to said haircut:
...aaaaand this is what I look like now:
I'd call that a rather large bit of changing, wouldn't you?

a sense of ex{ish}tance

They've done it again. A group of Graphic Design students (from my very own BYU!), along with faculty member Brent Barson, created an awesome opening credits for the Typophile Film Festival 5. This year they focused on the five senses to provide us with tangible typography. Have a looksee...

And read about how it was all done here. You'd be surprised.

i cannot think of a clever {ish}y title.

How freaking RAD is this?! The a capella group Noteworthy from my very own BYU sang their guts out on NBC's "The Sing-Off"! I'm pretty darn sure you should watch it.
Way to represent!

final checkl{ish}t

Sketchbook artist interview. Check. Ten best figure drawings portfolio. Check. Bookbinding final project. Check. Finals. Check.

Whew, I am so glad those are over. Finals were weird this semester. I guess it was just because they were all art finals. All projects. No studying, just spending all day and night drawing, gluing, cutting, drawing some more. But that's how the whole semester was so finals didn't feel much different. Anyways, it's over. Here are the fruits of some of my labor (for figure drawing at least)...
I'd show the books I made for bookbinding, but most of them are gifts, so I have to wait to give them out before I can put pictures up! I hope everyone else's finals went well, and if you didn't have any, congrats!

th{ish} stroller most likely belongs to the mother of a demon child

i thought it was high time to post some sketches from sketchbook class...yes?
the plan is to put a quote from "ice age" somewhere on this page. what are your favorite sid the sloth lines?
this one makes me laugh. we were at the nickel arcade and this old, black, threadbare doll stroller was in the prize case. so i drew it.
i love the lemonade here. and the food is good too.
i still want to see this movie. even if it wasn't everyone's favorite.
this class is seriously so much fun. take it.
