j{ush}t the beating of my own heart

the next tag question:

"if you could play any character in a totally legitimate/awesome rendition of any movie, musical, or play, who would it be and why? bonus: your pick of co-stars."

oh, that is difficult on so many levels.
level one: i can't act. so we must be pretending that i am amazing or something.
level two: i have too many movies/musicals/plays that i love. adore, even.
level three: i have to factor in my wardrobe.
level four: who am i kidding? i know exactly who i would pick.

i want to be kathleen kelly from you've got mail.
yes. i do.

and this is why.

i want that hair. i want those clothes. i want to own an adorable little shop. i want to live in new york city. i want to have hilarious conversations with my unknown husband-to-be about my unknown husband-to-be. i want to work with birdie, george, and christina. i want to date but not fall in love with frank navasky. i want to know so much about children's books that i cry at fox books. i want the song "dream" to play when i'm feeling blue. i want...sigh, i want to live in you've got mail.

as for the bonus, i could never change the co-stars. although...as much as i adore tom hanks, he isn't very dreamy. so i'd somehow find a dreamy version of tom hanks. and it would be perfect.
the end.

this all reminds me of a quote from another fabulous tom and meg favorite.
"you don't want to be in love. you want to be in love in a movie."

the REAL end.

of course we all knew this would be it... this movie will always remind me of you :)

side note: I would totally have done tom hanks in his younger years. there I said it.

hilary, I love your blog. the background is fantastic. I couldn't agree with you more about 'you've got mail'. I grew up dreaming about owning my own little book store, similar to the children's hour in slc, i pictured having an apartment above it with the interior looking similar to kathleen's apartment. it's a classic. hope you are doing great!
